Apply for, renew or replace a PR card: How to apply
To apply for a permanent resident (PR) card, you must submit a complete application package including all required forms.
If your application is incomplete or missing information or documents, we’ll return it to you.
You must submit a separate application with the correct fees for each person in your family who needs a PR card, regardless of their age.

Pay your application fees online
You must pay a processing fee of CAN$50 when you apply for a PR card and include your receipt with your application. This is not the same account you use to apply. You’ll need to create a new account or log in with our payment service.
We can’t refund the fee once the application is in process.

You can apply on paper if you can’t apply online and need accommodations, including for accessibility.
- Download the IMM 5444 form (opens in a new tab) , the document checklist IMM 5644 (opens in a new tab) and any additional forms that apply to you as indicated above.
- If you run out of space on the IMM 5444 form, you can include a separate document with the rest of the required information. Make sure you write which section the information is for.
- Pay the CAN$50 processing fee online (opens in a new tab) .
- Include your receipt with your application.
- We cannot refund the fee once the application is in process.
- Mail us your application and all the required documents mentioned in the document checklist.
- Use a certified courier or traceable mail service to reduce the delivery time of your application and help protect your documents.
